10 August 2026: Only God Is God

Reading: Isaiah 2:11-17

Devotional: The prophet Isaiah wrote that human pride will be brought low and that only the Lord will be exalted. We’re often tempted to build ourselves up, to claim credit, to act as though our accomplishments define our worth. But the foundation of true spiritual health is a clear understanding of who God is and who we are in light of who he is. He is eternal, all-knowing, and sovereign. We are not. Sit with that contrast today. Where in your life have you been tempted to act as though you occupy a place that belongs only to God?

11 August 2026: The Warning Before the Fall

Reading: Proverbs 16:18-19

Devotional: Scripture warns that pride goes before destruction and haughtiness before a fall. God gave Nebuchadnezzar a warning and time to heed it, and still he stood on his rooftop declaring his own greatness. The warning came before the fall. God in his mercy often does the same for us, placing people, circumstances, and his Word in our path before we reach the point of destruction. Today, ask yourself honestly: Is there a warning I have been ignoring? Is God trying to get my attention before I fall?

12 August 2026: Humiliation and the Path to Humility

Reading: Daniel 4:28-37

Devotional: Nebuchadnezzar had to be brought to the lowest possible place before he could learn the most important lesson of his life. His humiliation was thorough and public. But on the other side of it, he worshiped. He praised. He was restored. You do not have to wait for life to force you down. James 4:10 invites you to humble yourself before the Lord, and he will lift you up. Reflect today on what it might mean to choose humility before circumstances choose it for you.

13 August 2026: The Eternal Love That Covers Us

Reading: Psalm 103:15-17

Devotional: The Psalm describes human life as grass, brief and fragile, here today and gone tomorrow. That image could feel discouraging, but it is set against something breathtaking: the loving kindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. You are not eternal, but you are held by the one who is. His love existed before you arrived, surrounds you now, and will continue long after your days on earth are finished. This is not cause for despair. It is cause for deep rest. The God who is higher than all things has chosen to love you. Let that truth settle into your bones today.

14 August 2026: Practicing Humility Before God

Reading: Psalm 131:1-3

Devotional: This brief psalm is a quiet and powerful declaration of humility. The writer does not claim to have mastered great things. He has simply stilled his soul, like a child resting against a mother. Humility is not self-hatred. It is not denying the gifts God has given you or refusing to accept encouragement. It is the settled, peaceful recognition that God is God and you are not, and that this is a very good arrangement. Today, practice stillness. Quiet the part of you that strives to prove something. Rest in him. Hope in the Lord, from this time forth and forever.
