Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:1-8
Devotional: Without love, every accomplishment, every gift, and every sacrifice amounts to nothing. Paul's words to the Corinthian church cut through all religious performance and point to the one thing that gives meaning to everything else. It is not your eloquence, your knowledge, or your generosity that defines your worth before God and others. It is love. Christ-like love is patient where pride is quick to react. It is kind where selfishness is calculating. It is the foundation of every healthy relationship.
Reflection: Where are you substituting performance for love? Invite the Holy Spirit to replace the noise of self-promotion with the quiet, steady power of genuine love.
Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:4-7; Colossians 3:12-14
Devotional: Paul urges believers to clothe themselves in compassion, kindness, and forgiveness, bearing with one another as the Lord has forgiven them. Forgiveness is not a feeling. It is a decision, empowered by the Spirit of God living within you. Consider the story of the blank list. Love keeps no record of wrongs. It releases them. This does not mean tolerating harm or pretending wounds do not exist. It means choosing, through Christ's strength, not to let past wrongs define the present relationship.
Reflection: Where are you holding a record today? A grudge kept in a mental drawer only poisons the one holding it. Ask God to give you the grace to close that drawer for good.
Reading: Ephesians 5:18-21; Galatians 5:22-23
Devotional: In these passages, Paul describes the fruit produced in the life of a believer who walks by the Spirit, beginning with love. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not a one-time event reserved for extraordinary moments. It is a daily surrender, a continual yielding to God's presence and direction. When you are under the influence of the Spirit rather than the pressures of the world, something remarkable happens. Worship flows naturally. Gratitude rises. Humility becomes possible. And submission to one another out of reverence for Christ stops feeling like a threat and starts feeling like freedom. The fruit of the Spirit begins with love for a reason. Everything else, joy, peace, patience, kindness, grows from that root.
Reflection: Take a moment and consider what fruit of the Spirit you need to show up in your life today. Ask God to fill you freshly, recognizing that everything flows from love.
Reading: Ephesians 5:25-28; John 15:12-13
Devotional: The standard Paul sets for husbands is staggering. Love your wife as Christ loved the church, meaning sacrificially, selflessly, and completely. Jesus calls His followers to love one another as He has loved them, laying down His life as the ultimate expression of that love. Christ did not love the church because she was perfect; He loved her in order to make her holy. This is the model for every meaningful relationship. You are not called to love others because they have earned it. You are called to love because Christ first loved you. Whether you are married or single, this principle applies. Every relationship is an opportunity to reflect the self-giving love of Jesus.
Reflection: Where in your life can you lay something down today for the sake of another?
Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:8-13; Romans 8:38-39
Devotional: Prophecies will cease. Knowledge will pass away. But love never fails. This is so much more than a sentimental promise. It is a theological anchor. The love of God is not contingent on your circumstances, your failures, or the brokenness of your relationships. It is eternal, complete, and unwavering. One day you will see Christ face to face, and every partial understanding you have carried will give way to full knowing. Until that day, you walk by faith, not by sight, trusting that the same love that sent Christ to the cross is the love sustaining you right now.
Reflection: Rest in Christ’s love today. Build your life on it.
